The Role
An Associate Director in the Private Client team plays a crucial role in providing advice and support to our clients and colleagues on personal tax matters. The role includes preparing complex annual self-assessment tax returns, calculating tax liabilities, corresponding with clients to support them with their tax compliance obligations, identifying outstanding information, explaining how tax liabilities have arisen, and identifying ways to help clients to be more tax efficient.
Building and maintaining strong client relationships and collaborating with internal teams is essential for success in this role. The responsibilities include advising clients, both verbally and in writing, researching and proposing solutions for technical tax issues, and ensuring compliance with HM Revenue & Customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Handling a portfolio of complex private clients, including high-net-worth individuals including OMBs for both compliance work and advisory work.
Working closely with senior team members and partners on complex advisory matters outside of own portfolio.
Taking responsibility for quality and timely delivery of work on own portfolio and junior team members, keeping senior team members/partners informed of progress.
Responsible for WIP and billing of clients on own portfolio.
Corresponding with clients and HM Revenue & Customs on more complex tax matters – enquiries, disclosures, and clearances.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and colleagues throughout the year and becoming the client’s trusted adviser.
Maintaining a deep understanding of current tax legislation and prevailing practice and advising clients accordingly.
Being a key contact on tax queries from across the Gravita group.
Collaborating with internal departments on cross-selling opportunities to achieve key business objectives.
Complete all relevant CPD requirements to maintain your professional competence and your team members, stay informed of changes in legislation and best practice and ensure others do too.
Act as a positive representative of Gravita, demonstrating company values in your work, communication, and interactions with others.
People / Team Management
Responsible for junior team members, identifying their training and professional development needs, monitoring their caseload and workflow.
Maintaining and applying clear standards for managing performance at all levels.
Working closely with Associate Directors/Directors for junior team members’ learning, growth and development, and being involved in their appraisals.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
Solid understanding of UK tax regulations and compliance requirements.
CTA qualified with typically at least 3 years post qualification experience in complex tax compliance and advisory work.
Strong analytical skills and ability to research and propose solutions for complex tax matters.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to clients and colleagues.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity, and client service.
Proactive and organised with a keen eye for detail.

Core working hours are 10am - 4pm Monday to Friday
